Join the dynamic team at A Current Affair, and be the crucial ear as our next Sound Recordist. Your primary focus will be capturing pristine, high-quality on-location audio to elevate impactful storytelling in a fast-paced environment. This is a brilliant opportunity for a collaborative professional passionate about long-form journalism to thrive within a highly supportive culture.

Day to day you will:

  • Collaborate closely with camera crews and reporters on location.

  • Record high-quality sound using boom and lapel mics in varied environments.

  • Monitor multi-channel audio during outside broadcasts and challenging conditions.

  • Maintain and troubleshoot audio equipment to ensure optimal performance.

  • Assist with diverse duties on shoots, including file transfers and transcriptions.

  • Travel regularly for road trips within Australia and occasional international shoots.

What you'll bring:

  • Prior experience in long-form story production, current affairs, or documentaries.

  • Technical expertise in multi-channel recording, boom, and lapel microphone usage.

  • Strong adaptability and a willingness to support the team in complex situations.

  • Knowledge of workflows, specifically multi-camera shoots and post-production.

  • A collaborative mindset with a keen interest in new technology and storytelling.

  • Efficiency in managing audio equipment and handling data tasks on location.
